Before you head out this fall to select your Jack-o-lantern, I implore you to take your children to a farm or pumpkin patch. There is something very enriching about stomping through the mud of a farm and arriving in a field of orange lovelies, just waiting for you to select the perfect one.
I have compiled a list of farms and patches by the county just for you. Most of these places have kid-friendly activities and a few have adult only scares. It is totally worth your time while. By visiting a local farm, you are educating your children about farm life and sustainable agriculture. These farmers work very hard all year long to bring you nourishment and in the fall, tons of fun. It just isn’t the same to pick up a pumpkin from a local supermarket.
My number one pick is:
Yule Forest Christmas Tree farm and Pumpkin Patch – Stockbridge, GA
Pick your own pumpkin from the patch here. This is my number one pick because I have had the pleasure to work a season at this farm and the owners do it right. This is a real working farm, that is geared towards educating toddlers, school-age kids, and adults on farm living. They offer hayride, hay maze, haunted house, zombie laser tag, petting zoo, a science center with an outdoor classroom, bee house, kid zone with inflatables, S.T.E.M garden, dinosaur exhibit, and country general store.
For the grown-up kids – They are known for Fear the Woods haunted trail and house. Check out the video here. I also am also a big fan of this one because my daughter Julia is an actor at Fear the Woods. In addition, you can play laser tag with some zombies, what is better than shooting a zombie?
